FOR HAVENMODS.

name: Meggan Puceanu
age: 20, born January 19, 1990
sexuality: Straight
occupation: Meggan has been working her butt off since she reached the legal age for employment and has been working at a clothing boutique to help Joanie with the bills. For a while in her adolescent years, she took to thieving like her family, but eventually Joanie found out and guilt-tripped her into promising never to do it again. She'll get a job as a barista upon coming to California.

residence: Currently living with a friend's grandmother in London, but she'll be moving to the States upon entry into game and I'd like for her to enroll at UCLA for the spring 2011 term!

mutation:
  • Empathy
    • Meggan is highly attuned to the emotions of others and she picks them up like a radio frequency. On a basic level, this means she is a sensitive individual who can pick up the less noticeable behaviors of other human beings. As a superhuman, however, it means that Megg is as affected by others' emotions as the original source. It is these emotions, in relation to Megg, that make her what she is. ("I am whatever people think I am.") Her empathy gives her a really neat trick: she can pick up human languages and animal communication quite easily. As a result, she was able to teach herself to read and to write, and has a natural talent and appreciation for linguistics. Megg's empathy also means that she is easy prey to emotional manipulation via telepathy :(

  • Shape-shifting
    • Megg's shape-shifting abilities are bonded to her empathic abilities. However Megg may be feeling at any given moment will also affect the shape she takes and puts forth to others. Sensing her parents' distaste for her, Megg began to believe she was ugly and, in a grotesque self-fulfilling prophecy, she began to look ugly as well. Shape-shifting takes the form of either 1) whatever physical traits Megg herself may need, such as fur during the cold winter nights, or 2) others' perceptions of her, though shape-shifting via any of these methods is not a conscious decision on Megg's part. It just happens and she has very little control over it. She has the potential to take on any shape that she may desire to possess (including cross-species and even identical appearances of others) but it is an untapped potential and her appearances are limited to how she feels on any given day or what others think of her. In future, she will also be able to use her shape-shifting to mimic the powers of other mutants.

  • Elemental Control
    • Currently, Meggan can manipulate energy fields to create energy blasts though currently she could only use this ability as a more forceful push at best. Megg's emotions can cause immediate effects upon the weather or upon the basic elements (earth, air, fire, water). When angered, she can cause earthquakes or start a fire, and, much like her empathic and shape-shifting qualities, this is not as easily controlled as it could be. Nor is Megg entirely conscious of this ability, though she is becoming more and more aware of her control over the elements.

personality:
At face value, Meggan is very friendly and she isn't afraid to laugh or to express her emotions; her face is not one you would have difficulty reading and her immediate feelings are very easily displayed on her features. A frown and furrowed brow marks for the angry or confused moods, a smile and bright, shining eyes for the pleasant ones. Innocent and infectiously effervescent is Meggan Puceanu, whose idealism makes her out to be a cutesy little chick, whom many underestimate. It is because she is so sweet and mild-mannered that her angered, tempestuous outbursts are so shocking. She is quick to defend those friends she loves and would gladly lay down her life in defense of them.

In some ways, Meggan is annoyingly codependent; she hates being alone and thus is a social butterfly, one that constantly surrounds herself with other people. The desire to feel needed and wanted appeals greatly to her. She surrounds herself with a plenitude of people so that she won't feel alone. The mistreatment she suffered early on in her life brought this on, as she feels that her life is lacking in some way as a result of it. In playing mother to others, she gives them what her family did not give her: love, affection, family, friendship. Megg's jovial and friendly personality sometimes courts the line of being overwhelming but her affectionate and caring behavior mark her as a truly great friend with her heart in the right place. She freely gives her love and care, often latching onto people and refusing to let go of them, behavior which stems from her fear of being left behind and losing someone in the face of these increasingly-dangerous times. As such, when she feels someone is slipping away from her, she reacts with petulance and moody jealousy or flat-out fury.

Her friendships are both her strength and her weakness, as Meggan is very insecure about abandonment. The treatment she received at the hands of her family struck a harsh chord in her life and even though that dark period is far behind her, Megg remains deeply touched and affected by that maltreatment. As a result, Meggan is very needy and, once she has forged a strong attachment to another person, it is meant to be a life-long relationship. And, in her attempts to formulate strong ties to others, Meggan can become overprotective or feel possessive of them.

Despite the fact that Meggan puts forth an ever-cheerful face, she still feels the less beautiful human emotions and frequently feels them much more deeply than others do. Oversensitive and emotional, Meggan is very much a victim to her empathy, and to both her emotions and those of others. Immediate feelings evoke more than a physiological response from Megg, who often can be a very rash individual. Her envy and jealousy of others manufactured a clingy and smothering individual in Meggan, who has self-esteem issues out the wazoo. Jealousy is a near-constant trait of Megg's, and one that affects her decisions and her actions just as readily as her steadfast loyalty does. Overall, her constant need for attention and confirmation of importance and presence in her friends' lives gives her a sense of purpose and identity. She simply likes feeling needed.

Meggan takes things to heart more than the average person and she tends to read into others' actions more than most people do. As hyper-aware of emotions and hypersensitive to the actions of others, Megg often sees a slight where none was intended and is often that person who asks with annoying frequency, "Are you mad at me for something?" Hurt feelings abound where Megg is concerned, though she is quick to forgive and forget where her friends are concerned.

Meggan enjoys using her powers more than most mutants. She likes that she can fly or hover above ground (though she has yet to connect this ability to her attuned emotional connection to the elements) and she loves being able to pick up foreign languages as easily as she can. And the shape-shifting is totally cool, as long as she's having a good and "I feel beautiful" day.

history:
• Meggan is the third child of Katherine and William Puceanu; she had an elder brother, Nicholas, and an elder sister, . Meggan and her family were brought up in a community of Roma gypsies, and the entire family lived together in a very tiny vardo (or caravan) that was filled to the brim with stolen merchandise and pocketed wares.

• She was born near Fenborough Station outside of London, England, and raised in a gypsy caravan located not far away. It was January when Meggan Puceanu was born and a blizzard ravaged the city on that particular day, which was reportedly the byproduct of some dark magic activity within range of a magical site. (Whether this is true or not remains contested to this day.)

• The Puceanu family was too poor to afford fixing the heating furnace that had broken during the weeks following Meggan's birth and that was not to mention that they generally were too suspicious of introducing outsiders into their home anyway. It was then that Meggan's abilities first came to the forefront as, affected by the overwhelming winter cold, the infant girl sprouted fur all over her body. Her family, cagey and superstitious, was immediately repulsed by her unintended hideousness, and she became more monstrous-looking as a result of their vehement disapproval of her.

• The rumors among the residents of the caravan didn't help her empathic shape-shifting abilities; as the stories passed along that she was some horrific monster, she became more monster-like in appearance and temperament. She was a difficult child during that time period, and her siblings held such a dislike of her that they refused to play with her.

• While Meggan's parents took her elder siblings outdoors to make their rounds in the local shopping centers, Meggan was left to her own devices within the family's caravan. She watched TV all day long and never went to school. She began hoarding newspapers, receipts, and random pamphlets that had been discarded to her from whatever it was that her family had stolen from purses that day, and used them for reading material. Megg took to sneaking out of the caravan while her family worked and slept. She learned that she could communicate with animals, including the stray cat that she took to feeding scraps and which became her pet.

• To their credit, Megg's parents were devoted to protecting their youngest daughter from the nastiness of the outside world, and this was their primary motivation in keeping her penned up within their caravan.

• Meggan received homeschooling through a private tutor who recognized her for the empathic shape-shifter that she was and encouraged her with her education and with her abilities. The more time that Megg spent with Miss Jones, the prettier and more human-like she became.

• It was Miss Jones who first sought to explain to Meggan just what manner of person she was, who could change appearances so readily. She explained the concept of mutants to Meggan to the best of her ability and encouraged Meggan to accept this aspect of herself. Seeing that Meggan was a young teen at this time, this was easier some days more than others.

• At the age of seventeen, fed up with the feeling of being an outcast in her own family, Megg moved out of her parents' trailer in the gypsy caravan. She moved in with a friend, Josie Scott, who lived with her grandmother, Joanie. She hasn't looked back.

• This was hardly the first time that Meggan had been completely responsible for herself, as she had looked after herself during those lonely nights in the caravan. Meggan found that she loved living "out loud" instead of being pent up in a cramped room. Now she had friends and people who truly seemed to care about her, as opposed to what she perceived as her parents' moral obligation and her siblings' outward scorn.

• Meggan began working at a clothing boutique shop after she sat for her final exams for school and this is where she has been working since. Though she picked up a sticky finger habit from the ages of 14-17, she hasn't strayed from the line since. She likes being able to talk to people and helping women shop for clothes is definitely her idea of fun.

  • In addition to speaking English (which she uses as her primary language), Megg can speak Romani and a dash of Russian. She can also communicate with any living creature by picking up their communication system.
  • Approximately 5'7" in height.
  • In her natural form, Megg is above-average in height, is quite pretty and has distinctly elvenlike features, with pointed ears.
  • She is obsessed with languages and with linguistics. She is a natural at picking up new languages, thanks to her empathy.
  • Megg has not been in contact with her family since she left.
